Machine Taps for Blind Holes with Right-Hand Spiral Flutes

Rekord D

Rekord D

Chamfer. 2-3 threads. Length according to DIN shape C.

Geometry. Designed for cutting blind holes up to approximately 2 x d in short-chipping structural steels of average tensile strength (500-750 N/mm2).

Rekord D-VA

Rekord D-VA

Chamfer. 2-3 threads is standard.

Material. The cutting edge geometry is adapted for machining medium-hard free cutting steel materials, heat-treatable steel, forged components, and low-alloyed steel castings with tensile strengths of more than 94,000 psi (192 BHN).

Rekord D-TI

Rekord D-TI

Chamfer. Approximately 3 threads. Length according to DIN shape C.

Geometry. Designed for machining titanium.

Machining. Low cutting speeds and use of high-quality cutting lubricants are recommended for faultless thread cutting.

Rekord D-GAL

Rekord D-GAL

Chamfer. 2-3 threads is standard.

Material. The cutting edge geometry is specifically designed for tapping cast aluminum and aluminum alloy.

Machining. Cutting fluid emulsions with a mixture ratio of 1:12 up to 1:15 are sufficient as coolant and lubricant.

Rekord D-Z-TIN

Rekord D-Z-TIN

Chamfer. Form "C" 2-3 Threads

Application. "Z" Geometry designed especially for CNC controlled machines.

Materials.

  1. Structural and free cutting steels and heat treated steel within tensile strength ranges from 58000 to 116000 PSI (119 BHN-22HRc) used in conjunction with good quality emulsions with a mixture ratio of approximately 1:12 up to 1:15.
  2. For stainless and acid resistant steels. Recommended for use with cutting oils or special emulsions with compression-proof additives of good quality.
  3. For forged parts, heat-treated materials, tool steels, steel castings, and high alloy steel castings.
  4. Almost all aluminum alloys can be worded with our tap "Z" without having to change rake angle or chamfer. Emulsions with a mixture of 1:12 up to 1:15 are sufficient as coolant and lubricant.
  5. For working nickel, nickel alloys and some titanium alloys. The use of cutting oil or pastes of high quality is required.

Coating. TiN for better thread surface finishes, higher cutting speeds and longer tool life.

Rekord DF

Rekord DF

Chamfer. As an opposite to the above mentioned design, these taps are made with a chamfer length Form C/2-3 threads.

Geometry. An additional helix correction "F" makes sure that the first cutting phase is not influenced by the spiral flutes. Axial miscutting and consequent pitch deviations can be avoided.

Machining. The chip space is enlarged in the chamfer area. Part of the swarf is pushed forward, due to the helix correction (This does not apply to the Rekord DF-TIN). This explains why this tap design is not suited for blind holes with a short thread run-out, and for tough materials.

Rekord DF-NI-TICN

Rekord DF-NI-TICN

Chamfer. Form "C" 2-3 Threads

Application. "NI" Geometry designed especially for CNC controlled machines.

Materials.

  1. High CrNiTi alloyed Materials such as Inconel, Monel, and Hastelloy.

Coating. TiCN for better thread surface finishes, higher cutting speeds and longer tool life.

Rekord DF-VA

Rekord DF-VA

Chamfer. 2-3 threads.

Material. Short-chipping free-cutting and construction steels, forged components, alloyed steel castings, stainless and acid-proof materials. Alloyed cast iron, meehanite cast iron and spheroidal graphite iron with perlitic, ferritic or austenitic structure.
