Emuge's Expanded Line Of Full-Speed Taps Dramatically Cut Production Time And CostNORTHBOROUGH, MA (April 7, 2004) Emuge Corp., the premiere manufacturer of high-performance taps, announced today that they have significantly expanded their Full-Speed Tapping program with the addition of a variety of new Full-Speed Taps designed in ten new styles. The taps allow exceptionally fast tapping at record-level speeds on modern CNC equipment. "Increased speed produces tremendous production savings and efficiency," stated Mr. Peter Matysiak, President of Emuge, "because speed reduces cycle time while improving thread quality. If tapping time is reduced by ten minutes per hour at a machine rate of $150, annual savings of $125,000 can be achieved and capacity can be increased by 833 machine hours.” Emuge Full-Speed Taps utilize unique design characteristics that promote freer, more efficient cutting and speed. The taps feature an advanced cutting geometry that reduces friction between the workpiece and the tool. In addition, high profile relief angles permit increased tapping speeds, reduced heat and longer tool life. An optimized number and shape of flutes, a shorter thread length, extremely hard surface coatings and coolant-thru technology also contribute to tap performance.
The company reported that an Emuge Full-Speed Tap, running at 75 SFM tapping a 3/8-16" blind hole in stainless steel, would likely cut machining time in half, dramatically demonstrating the savings that can be realized with Full-Speed Tapping. "Machining technology develops at such a rapid pace today. It takes continuous effort to develop the fastest, longest-lasting taps," says Alan Shepherd, Technical Director at Emuge. "Our Full-Speed Taps utilize the very latest technologies to provide higher cutting speeds, optimized performance and longer tool life which results in greatly reduced production costs." The ten styles of taps are available in 20 different sizes, in both inch and millimeter. Over 400 items will be available from stock in Northborough, MA, USA. Emuge Corp., part of the 1,000+ employee German parent company Emuge-Werk Richard Glimpel KG, has been the product technology and performance leader in their field for over 80 years. The company manufactures an exhaustive line of taps, end mills, thread mills, holders and attachments, over 100,000 items sold through distributors worldwide. North American Headquarters of Emuge are located in Northborough, MA USA, where applications solutions are managed and over 10,000 types of cutting tools and accessories are stocked for prompt shipment. Emuge also offers end user technical support through a network of in-the-field engineers with extensive tooling experience.
